TED: Listening Practice, A Life Lesson From a Volunteer Firefighter

ted_logoYou can develop your listening skills by watching TED presentations while you are trying to find answers to some specific questions. If you read transcripts afterwards, you can also build up your vocabulary. Such listening practice may be especially useful if you prepare for international examinations.

Level of difficulty: easy

Instructions how to practice the most efficient way:

1. Click on the button “Start quiz” below the video, read the questions and check the unknown words. Try to remember the questions.
2. Watch the presentation WITHOUT subtitles and answer the questions as you listen.
3. Finish the quiz and check your answers by clicking “View questions” button.
4. Read the transcript at TED website (follow the link and then click on “Show transcript” and select English), copying unknown words and phrases to your vocabulary list.
