Usually I ask new students to take this placement quiz because it is important for me to know their level of English. This way I will be able to select appropriate study materials and see the gaps in their knowledge. After taking the test, you can click the button “view questions” and  see the correct answers .

To grade your knowledge I have used the widely accepted  European standard of  the  Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

A1 Breakthrough or beginner

A2 Waystage or elementary

B1 Threshold or intermediate

B2 Vantage or upper intermediate

C1 Effective Operational Proficiency or advanced

C2 Mastery or proficiency

CEFR uses a scale of levels from A1 for beginners up to C2 for those who are proficient in English. This makes it easy for teachers to test students’ level of English, select materials and group students according to their level. There is also a detailed description what a student is supposed to be able to do at each level.
